"A non-commutative Waring type theorem"
Abstract:
Hilbert's solution to Waring Problem shows that for
every k>0 there is a number g(k) such that every natural
number is a sum of g(k)k-th powers. We study problems
of similar flavor in non-commutative contexts such as
permutation groups and matrix groups. Our proofs involve
probabilistic arguments and representation theory.
